Seahawk Summer Tennis Camps 2024
The 2024 Seahawk Summer Tennis Camp at UNC Wilmington will host both day camp sessions and an overnight camp. Each camp session is designed to provide a great experience and will include a process-oriented approach to your tennis development. The Seahawk Summer Camps are for ages 7-18 (boys and girls) and tennis levels including beginner, intermediate, advanced and tournament elite. Each student is grouped based on their age and ability level. Our on-court focus will include developing each student in the areas of footwork/court movement, technique training, tactics/strategy, mental game and FUN! Seahawk Summer Tennis Camp is open to any and all entrants.
For the Beginner...
Our beginner campers will receive instruction in tennis stroke technique, footwork and initial tennis knowledge. We will build confidence with each student with a positive coaching approach. Sessions will include development of their tennis in a fun-based environment. Other areas of emphasis will include court position and basic strategy and tactics.
FOR THE INTERMEDIATE. . .
Our intermediate campers will be exposed to a progressive training environment. Each student will receive instruction in stroke development, agility/footwork and point play strategy. We will build confidence in our intermediate student through goal-setting and starting to define their game style. Other areas of emphasis will include shot selection, doubles tactics and mental strength.
FOR THE ADVANCED...
The advance students will experience a process-oriented training environment. Each process will be very similar to the areas of emphasis that we use with our varsity teams here at UNC Wilmington. Mental strength, court movement, technique, shot selection and Fun!...will all be areas of emphasis for the advanced student. Tactical instruction will include singles strategy as well as doubles strategy training.
FOR THE ELITE. . .
The elite camper will experience the tactical and strategic side of competitive tennis. Players will develop their skills with live ball drills, dead ball drills, and competitive match play. In addition, there will be a fitness component where players will be exposed to conditioning drills that improve footwork, movement and flexibility. This portion of camp will run similar to a college program. A regional, state, or sectional ranking is preferred for campers to be in the elite group. This is designed for players aspiring to play college tennis and beyond.
